Media 1 - 4
Media provides students with the opportunity to analyse and understand a diverse range of media forms. Students explore a range of media texts, technologies and processes. Students will have access to excellent facilities and work to learn a range of media forms including print-based and filmmaking. In a world where the media effects us in so many aspects of everyday life, learning to understand how the media is a great skill to have.
Major topics covered in Units 1 & 2 include production work and developing skills interpreting meanings and messages in media texts, as well as the effects of new media technology.
Major topics covered in Units 3 & 4 include learning about media through making a folio of practical work that involves planning and producing a media product. The theory involves the analysis of film narratives and discussing and debating the effects of media influence and social values in media texts.
Recommended subject match is Studio Arts Video Production
Recommended: Media Units 1-2 before enrolling in unit 3 – 4.
It is recommended that students purchase a visual diary and notebook.
