SIH20111 Certificate II in Hairdressing

Length of Course - 2 years (four semesters)

Delivery:  Wednesdays, Box Hill Institute (Elgar campus)

Time:  1.30 – 6.00 pm

Students with a demonstrated, keen interest in hairdressing can undertake an introductory course that will provide skills to begin work in the industry. This is a nationally recognised qualification and provides students with the knowledge and skills in salon service and leads towards an apprenticeship in hairdressing.

These courses are delivered by external training organisations, usual over 1 or 2 years.

Special Requirements

You must have sufficient literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to enable you to successfully complete the course.

Material Cost in 2015

First Year $467.50    Second Year $225.00

Uniform Requirements

Students are to wear all Black clothing (no leggings, short skirts or shoe string straps), closed toed black shoes (no runners). Teachers will go through the code of conduct on orientation/induction day.

Training and Employment Outcomes

Completion of this course enables you to progress to the Certificate III in Hairdressing. On completion of this course you will be eligible for employment at an entry level in the field of hairdressing.

Contribution to the VCE

This program will contribute to the VCE through Block Credit Recognition. Available credit towards the VCE will be automatically calculated once a student’s VASS enrolment has been finalised by the school. Only credit at Units 1 and 2 level is available for this program. Students are advised to seek career advice before enrolling.
