The Victorian School Sports Awards is an annual event which rewards excellence across all categories of major school sports.  The awards are given to students, teachers, parents and volunteers who have excelled or made an outstanding contribution to school sport.

The individual student award, known as a Sporting Blue is identified around the world as an accolade of sporting excellence by young people and is distinguished by a two-coloured ribbon attached to a traditional bronze medallion.

Two BHSSC students, Jasmin Starr and Najvada George were recently presented with their awards at a ceremony at the MCG.

Najvada received her award for her outstanding achievements in Basketball.  She has been selected in the Australian Sapphires under 17 team, which has qualified to go to the World Games this year and she was a member of the Victorian state team that won the national title in 2015.  Najvada has been named in the Dandenong Rangers WNBL development squad.
